In 1998, after almost 40 years in operation, what was then the Massachusetts Health Research Institute underwent a complete transformation to become Third Sector New England. More than just a name change, the organization went through a change of core purpose, to now focus all its capacity building only on organizations that are working (per their mission statement) “to create a more just and democratic society.”

As the leader of an organization that has changed its mission to ensure it could create as much community impact and social change as possible, Mr. Spack shares his observations about the ongoing need to test the assumptions that underpin an organization’s work.  (If you are reading this via email, click here to hear the interview.)
