Summer of Change: Brett McNaught & BuildOn

Radio!Another summer Monday, another great interview!

This summer, I’ve been sharing some favorites from the interview program I do for the Chronicle of Philanthropy –  “Making Change.” And finding favorites isn’t easy when you look at all the brilliant minds I’ve interviewed, each of them talking about what they see happening when meaningful community change is taking place.

This week’s highlighted interview is with Brett McNaught, Vice President of International Programs for buildOn – an organization that simultaneously builds schools in developing nations AND builds community here in the U.S.  Brett McNaught

I love this interview because it shows that our assumptions about what is a “strength” vs. what is a “weakness” are just that – assumptions.  If you think living every day within a corrupt system of government could never be seen as a strength – well, you may just think twice after listening to Brett.

(My apologies that this particular episode is no longer available on iTunes – it is one of the earlier interviews I did, which you can tell by the fact that Creating the Future was still the “Community-Driven Institute”!)

Enjoy listening – and if you have thoughts as you listen, or a favorite line from the interview, please share them in the comments!
