EngagementThere are two types of engagement campaigns.

1) Campaigns to get people to buy or donate something.

2) Campaigns to build relationships, so that people care and want to be more engaged.

Guess which one accomplishes more organizational goals? (And guess which one most people don’t do?) Keep reading here...

A Conversation About Engagement

Whether you sell cars or raise money for an animal shelter, imagine what would be possible if the sale or the donation were just the beginning of the relationship.

Imagine the relationship you could build AFTER the customer buys the car - checking to see how the car is working, what she likes about the car, whether she’s headed out on a long road trip...

If the goal were not the sale but the relationship, imagine all the amazing things that might come with that friendship!

The same holds true in every industry, from fundraising to election campaigns.

To experiment with this in your own work, try asking these questions at your next sales or fundraising meeting:

• If we had deeper relationships with our customers / donors, what would that make possible for the customer / donor? What would be better in their lives?

• How would those customers / donors feel about us? How would they feel about themselves?

• What would we have to believe in order to build these honest, trusting relationships? What would our customers / donors need to believe?

BONUS: On October 20th, you can experiment alongside us, as we use Catalytic Thinking questions to create our own campaign. Connect to that conversation here.

Creating
the Future
is a collection of people around the world, supporting each other in a grand experiment.

The experiment:
To determine how much better the world could be if the questions we ask in our day to day lives are bringing out the best in each other.

If everyone, everywhere, is bringing out the best in every person they encounter – and if the systems that guide our behaviors are built to bring out the best in all of us - how much closer will we all be to a healthy, humane world that works for all of us?
