GRADUATE LEVEL CLASS:

Introduction to the Continuum of Potential

A Framework for Meeting People Where They Are
& Unlocking the Door to Their Potential (and Yours!)

Meeting People Where They Are:
What does that really mean???

  • How can you know where someone is (so that you can meet them there)?
  • And what can you do once you know that?

The Continuum of Potential

Rooted in a combination of brain science, behavioral psychology, and practical experience, the Continuum of Potential is a framework that combines compassionate listening with behavior change.

When we do not know how to interpret people's words and actions, it is easy to misread their intentions and their potential.

The Continuum of Potential provides a roadmap for understanding the cues people are already sharing, that we are not trained to notice. Those cues are indicators of the various stages we all go through as we step into what is possible - stages of behavioral and attitudinal change.

With its roots in a variety of behavioral sciences, the Continuum of Potential provides a path for your own actions to catalyze real change.

• If you've ever been frustrated when someone asks for help and then does whatever they were going to do anyway...
• If you are curious why some people hop quickly past perceived obstacles while others stay stuck for years …
• If you wonder why the exact same actions create dramatically different results for people who appear to be in the exact same circumstances...

The Continuum of Potential will help you see what is not always obvious, helping you unravel the complexities of communication by making the invisible visible.

From this new way of seeing, you will be able to...

• understand more deeply and compassionately where people are in their own readiness to step into their potential
• understand what role you can play in opening the door, so that they can see what might be possible.

What is this Class? Who is it for?

This is a graduate level class, for anyone who has already taken any form of our intro courses to Catalytic Thinking (online immersion, self-paced click-and-play, practice cohorts, in-person immersion, etc.).

This graduate-level class is for anyone seeking to...

... more deeply understand yourself and others
...be more effective in listening and communicating at work, at home, in every part of your life
... be a more effective change agent, at work and in your own life
... understand how to craft campaigns or programs of any kind - including speeches and classes - that connect immediately with your intended audience

If you are already seeing good results from your Catalytic Listening practice and you want to become even more effective in your communications, the Continuum of Potential will open your eyes to a whole new way of being with the people in your life.

The class begins with a review of Catalytic Listening.

From there, you will be introduced to some of the key brain science and behavioral psychology behind behavioral change.

Then the class will guide you through the 7 stages people go through as they step into what is possible in their lives.

Lastly, the class will provide simple steps you can take to unlock the door to what is possible, for that other person and for yourself.

Through the video lessons, the dozens of pages of worksheets and study guides, and the live 2-hour Q&A discussion, you will see the people around you - and yourself - in a whole new way. And with that new way of listening, your results will immediately begin to improve.... noticeably!

What does it actually mean to meet people where they are? When we say, “Meet people where they are,” where exactly are they?

What leads to people being stuck? What keeps them there, and what do they need in order to get unstuck?

• The role of compassion in unlocking the door to the potential in ourselves and those around us.

• Why people make decisions / take actions that seem to go counter to their best interests.

• What it takes for team members to get on the same page.

• The brain science and behavioral psychology behind why people do or don’t take action – including you.

• Why actions that work for one group backfire with others in similar circumstances.

• Why consultants often have a hard time getting clients to take action on things that are clearly in the organization’s best interest.

• How to know what kinds of responses will help vs. frustrate the other person.

Why you can’t make anyone do anything. And why it is counterproductive to try.

Note: The Continuum of Potential is NOT an intervention tool.
If someone you know is harming themselves or others, please seek professional help immediately.
